This week’s post comes to us from our amazing Resident Artist Melanie Hamann of Art by Melanie. She created this gorgeous floral bouquet using these Paint Pixie products:

Paint Pixie Magical Chaulk Paint in:
Figgy Pudding
Caribbean Cooler
Marshmallow
Red Velvet Cake
Christmas Cookie
Lemon Crinkle

Paint Pixie/The Turquoise Iris Brushes in:
1” Wash 2700 Iris Pro
Lil Frenchie
Combe Shader 2550
Other Paint Pixie Products:
Water Girl Continuous Spray Bottle
Meltdown Wax Like Finish
12”x 16” Canvas
To begin, Melanie used Lil Frenchie to apply a mixture of Caribbean Cooler and Marshmallow to the upper 2/3 of the canvas, blending in an X pattern. She also used the Watergirl Continuous Spray Bottle to assist in the blending at this step.
On the bottom of the canvas she picked up some Figgy Pudding on her dirty brush to add depth to the lower portion of the canvas.
Next, Melanie used straight Figgy Pudding and Lil Frenchie to add very loose strokes to base in the area that her floral bouquet would later be added.

Mixing Christmas Cookie and Figgy Pudding, Melanie proceeded to base in the deeper leaves and greenery, continuously dipping back into the palette to obtain a variety of dark green shades.
It was now time to add dimension to the vase using the 1” wash brush and predominately Marshmallow and small amounts of both Figgy Pudding and Christmas Cookie to round out the vase shape.

Melanie used the 1” Wash Brush and Marshmallow to add highlights and dimension to the leaves.
Red Velvet was the main color used for the flowers with a mix of marshmallow for highlights. The flowers were formed using the 1” Wash brush and very loose strokes.

Small filler flowers were added with a small amount of Lemon Crinkle.
The completed canvas was sealed with Meltdown Wax Like Finish for a beautiful smooth sealer.

This just turned out so beautiful didn’t it? And guess what? You can watch the entire tutorial right here:
