Do we love a good flea market flip? We do!
Melanie completely transformed this dark metal box by accentuating its ornate details with color blending and metallic shimmer. Check out its journey to a new lease on life below.

From Melanie:
I had picked up this metal box at a flea market several years ago. It was dark brown and definitely needed a lift for spring!
To start, I wiped down the piece entirely to remove any dirt or loose particles. Then I used Undercover Primer in Coconut inside and out to assure a solid foundation for the paint to adhere to.
Then I moved on to the color!
I applied Magical Chaulk Paint in Dreamsicle to the entire piece paying special attention to all of the crevices. To create deeper color on the outside edges, corners and feet, I dipped half of my brush in Dreamsicle and half in Violet Lemonade blending them together.
After allowing this layer to dry, I applied Honeycomb liberally with a dry brush over my last layer. This provided some beautiful warmth to the piece.
After that layer dried it was really time for the fun part!

I used two of the Liquid Pixie Dust metallic paints: 24 Karat (a bright bold gold) and Blue Diamond (a subtle blue shine).
With a dry brush and 24 Karat I lightly touched over the raised areas of the design and allowed to dry. I then repeated the step with Blue Diamond.

I really love the way it turned out. It has a slight carnival glass feel with its subtle pinks, golds and blues. I highly recommend playing with color!!

We agree with Melanie. Playing with colors in your pieces can be so much fun. And the end results are stunning with layers of depth and blending.
But, what do you think? Do you love this combination of colors together?
