Let’s learn how to transform a blank canvas into darling decoupaged art!

From Melanie:
To begin, I taped off all the edges of the canvas board to ensure a nice white border at the end of my piece. I used painters tape.
Next I added a base coat of Glazed Donut and let that dry before moving on.

Once the board was dry, I started decoupaging using book pages. You could use decoupage paper, tissue paper, sheet music or other paper sources to fit your piece.
I began to tear the book pages into smaller pieces to collage on to my board adhering them with Meltdown sealer. After I was satisfied with my paper collage, I allowed this to dry. If your paper pieces appear a little buckled initially, do not worry. Once dry, they will flatted out.

Next I sketched out my bird and flowers using the Stabilo pencil.

I painted the bird using Magical Chaulk Paint in Mojito, French Macaron and Bon Bini Cocktail until I achieved the layered and blending effect I wanted.
For the flowers, I used Magical Chaulk Paint in Violet Lemonade, Dreamscicle, Candy Apple, Honeycomb and Sour Apple.
I used the Stabilo pencil to define and add details as well as outline the bird and flower scene as well.

Once I was satisfied with the look of the piece, I removed the tape to reveal the border and was done!
